Heimat Guinness Pulled Pork

Cooking time 3 1/2 hours feeds 4 people


Large casserole dish with lid

750g of Pork Shoulder

Himalayan Salt

Black Pepper

A knob of butter

2 0.5 ltr cans of Guinness (one for you, one for cooking)

1 Shallot diced

1 Large White onion diced

0.5 ltr Vegetable broth

2 tbsp Tomato paste

2 Medium Carrots chopped

1 Celery stick chopped

200g Fresh Button Mushrooms halved

1 tbsp Worcester Sauce

Bunch of Parsley to garnish

New Potatoes and optional greens as a side


Open a Guinness for yourself

  1. Take the pork shoulder and massage in the salt and pepper

  2. Heat casserole dish on a high heat and add the butter

  3. Place the pork in the dish and seal on each side for around 3 minutes until browned

  4. Take the pork out of the dish and set aside to rest

  5. Turn the heat down to medium and add the onions and shallots

  6. Once the onions are soft add a can of Guinness and the vegetable broth until simmering

  7. Add tomato paste, Worcester sauce, carrots, celery and mushrooms

  8. After 5 minutes add the pork and let it slowly cook on a low heat in the oven (if the sauce becomes to thick add a bit of extra Guinness)

  9. In approx. 3 hours check if the pork starts to fall apart with a spatula, if yes start to pull it apart with a fork, if not leave for longer

  10. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve with potatoes and plenty of Guinness or your favourite red wine
